My Approach

My theoretical approach in counselling is Integrative.  This enables me to adapt how I work with each person, whilst respecting individual beliefs, values and cultures. 

My aim is to offer you a confidential, non-judgemental, safe space to air and explore any issues of concern.  I see the purpose of counselling as an opportunity for personal development and growth with the aim of addressing your issues and coping mechanisms in order to become more content in life. 

My role as a professional counsellor is to facilitate and enable this by working with you in order to aid your self-awareness and understanding so that you can feel empowered to make relevant and lasting changes in your life.

About me

I am a professional, registered and accredited member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and so I follow their Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.  

I qualified as a counsellor over 20 years ago and I have experience of working therapeutically with men and women of all ages and backgrounds.  I have worked in schools, youth counselling services, voluntary organisations, private practice and now currently in the NHS.  In addition to seeing clients face to face, I also offer remote counselling either over the telephone and via video calls.

Do you feel you want to change something in your life? Or perhaps you just need to explore your thoughts and feelings in a confidential, non-judgemental space?

Individual counselling will offer you the opportunity to re-establish some balance in your world by helping you make sense of things or understand them better.  It is also a process that enables you to become more self-aware and recognise your thoughts, feelings and patterns of behaviour that may not be very helpful. 

I see engaging in counselling as giving yourself an opportunity to be a better and happier version of yourself.

Couples
Therapy

Do you feel disconnected or distant from your partner? Are you or your partner struggling with depression?

 

Perhaps your relationship has been affected by an external factor that you’re having difficulty adjusting to?

As a Behavioural Couple’s Therapist, I would work with you both together in order to establish where you are at and how you got there.  I would then feedback my assessment of your relationship and then tailor my interventions accordingly. 

My role here would be to help you both re-connect by encouraging healthy communication and expression.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sometimes couple’s choose to stay together and sometimes they decide to part after couple’s therapy, either way they all seem to benefit from and appreciate having the couple’s therapy when in crisis as it enables them to think more clearly and decide what they really want.

Supervision

I am a qualified Integrative Supervisor and I work with a range of experience from trainees on first placements to highly qualified and established therapists from various theoretical orientations with demanding caseloads.

My approach is to work collaboratively with the therapist through being curious and gently challenging whilst empathetic and encouraging. 

 

My aim is to support you to develop your self-awareness and growth so that you can be even more effective as a therapist for your clients whilst maintaining your ethical practice. 

I currently supervise individuls and groups at a domestic violence charity in London as well as in the NHS and in my private practice.
